In addition to his professional career in executive search and selection, Matt is a longstanding active member of the Liberal Democrats in the United Kingdom. He has previously stood for public office as a Liberal Democrat candidate on several occasions, including for the European Parliament before the UK exited the European Union. Matt now also serves as an Election Agent for the Party's candidates, especially in Greater London; and is currently the Election Agent for the Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of London, Rob Blackie, and the Liberal Democrats' London Assembly list.

Over the years, Matt has held many official positions within the Liberal Democrats, including having recently served on both the UK-wide Federal Conference Committee and on the national Executive of the Party in England. Currently, Matt is a Regional Officer of London Liberal Democrats (chairing its Local Parties Committee, overseeing the governance and compliance of all 31 local parties in the region) and is the Party's 2024 GLA Election Agents Coordinator & London-wide Agent.

In recent years, Matt has learned much more about the enormous harm and suffering caused to animals who form part of supply chains for our food and other resources, and has consequently converted to veganism. He now advocates for much stronger animal welfare protections in law and encourages others to make the voluntary choice to abandon meat, dairy, and other animal products by switching to a plant-based diet and embracing a vegan lifestyle.
